Make Money On eBay With These 5 Easy to Implement eBay Selling Tips

If you really want to make some money selling on eBay there are a few things that you really need to consider doing that a lot of people do not do.  You need that edge and I have compiled five little eBay seller tips to teach you how to get pointed in the right direction.

Auction Tips 1: Focus on surfing eBay as  buyer and get out of seller mode for a few minutes each day.  Begin looking at items for sale or recently completed that are the exact same items you are selling or that you want to sell.  As a buyer, what do you like about these other auction listings and what turns you off?  Take notes, use the best, most attractive elements in your auctions too.  What are the completed items selling for and what elements of the highest priced, sold auctions are really attractive to you?  Again, take some notes and incorporate these little auction tips that you are finding into your own auctions.

Auction Tips 2: If you sell a lot of items across different niches, setup a few eBay seller accounts.  One for each group of products is perfect.  This allows you to set a seller name and eBay store name that is specific to each of your niches.  You also can present yourself as a focused expert on that specific group of products.  It sure beats the one stop fits all presentation where you are jack of all trades but master of none!

Auction Tips 3: This is the time saver of all time savers.  Setup and automated email message that goes out in response to all of your the questions that you receive about your auctions.  The content of this email should be your FAQ’s, a brief note stating that if their question is covered in the FAQ then they will not get a response AND a brief note letting them know that if they’re question is not covered in the FAQ then you will be replying to their email shortly.  This saved me tons of time.  Most questions that people asked me were not product related but were about return policies, shipping questions, etc…  Setting up a canned response addressing all of those generic questions is undoubtedly one of the best things you can do for your eBay business.

Auction Tips 4: Take advantage of each of your touch points with your customers to make them aware of other products that you sell and other hot deals that you are currently offering.  Build out your eBay newsletter, include fliers for items you are trying to blowout in the package when you ship their item.  Use eBay’s cross sell feature for checkout and include links to your store in your auction and on every email that you send your customer including your invoice.  Up-selling and cross-selling is a great way to make a few extra bucks when you already have the attention of someone that is already a customer of yours.  Never underestimate the power of that first sale and the trust you have established to get a customer to keep buying from you.

And finally, one of the most overlooked auction tips:

Auction Tips 5: Don’t forget about your customers or buyers once the sale is over.  As I mentioned above, it takes a lot to score a customer so keep in touch.  Follow-up on the sale.  Don’t forget about them when they have questions about the shipping of their product or questions/issues after they have received their product.  This is YOUR customer (probably a good enough reason for this to be tops of all my eBay tips!), not just eBay’s and you have a responsibility to maintain that relationship for them and for your business.  Remind them to leave feedback.  Make sure their satisfied, all the while heeding to my number four auction tips above.
