Complete Guide to Making Money with eBay

Why eBay Should Only be a Small Part of Your Overall Business Plan

You need to learn to capitalize on your customer base and avoid relying on one source for all of your income. Getting to the point of financial security will require some patience, a good plan, and a solid foundation. You need a vision. Your business is not just about eBay. Yes, eBay will be the catalyst to jumpstart your Internet business, but in a few years, you business will not just be about eBay. You can’t afford to make your business just about eBay.

The Downside to eBay

The reason Internet marketing information is so essential is because eBay has a lot costs and regulations. You are going to ring up charges on eBay whether you sell anything or not. eBay’s structure could change (as just seen with the implosion of digitally delivered goods and the new Feedback policy changes), their fees could jump significantly (robbing you of what used to be profits,) or the site could go away all together (unlikely, but do you want to have all your eggs in one basket?). Do you like the fact that every repeat sale on eBay costs you the same amount of money in fees as the first? Capturing the first sale from a customer is always the most expensive part of dealing with that customer. Not on eBay. On eBay, you will spend the same amount to deal with that customer in every transaction, no matter how many times that same customer buys from you. So, the goal here is to diversify your sources of income and use vehicles other than eBay to drive your repeat business with current customers.

Using eBay to Jumpstart your Success

First and foremost, you have to understand that eBay is a sales vehicle. I know you already know that eBay is used to sell stuff, but I want you to think deeper than the product that you are selling today. Not only is eBay is a great way to sell some products and make a few bucks, but eBay is also a tool that can be used to fuel an entire enterprise. If you want to find true success on eBay and in other online ventures, you need to think of the site as a place to sell three things:

1. Yourself

2. Your staff

3. Your company.

Anyone can sell a product. There are thousands of sellers selling everyday on eBay. What will make customers want to buy from YOU – and I do not mean just buy from you one time either! What will encourage customers to make repeat purchases and buy from you over and over again?

The cheapest sales to capture are those from your loyal customers – outside of the confines of eBay!

Achieving success online means that you need to be driving repeat sales. Not just sales acquired through eBay but sales generated via multiple vehicles online or in your brick and mortar store.

I want you to think about using eBay as marketing tool! How cool is that? You can sell product on eBay, make a few dollars and use this money to market your company, other products, other sites, and even other people’s products that you earn commissions on! eBay can help you achieve ALL OF THIS! Now don’t get caught up in all of this right now. I just want you to get those wheels turning. Understand the potential of where this can go. See the big picture and have it in the back of your mind as you build your business. Have a vision of what you want your business to look like one day. Write it down now and adjust it as you grow. The more you learn about the BIG opportunity that the internet provides the more you will want to go after it! Once you have a source (or many sources) for products, a customer base and some knowledge of selling to and servicing those customers via the internet, your opportunities can become endless.
