Thinking of Your eBay Home Business on a Global Scale
I have already told you a little bit about my favorite resources. Now let me explain to you why they are so important to your eBay home business. I know, I know, you are ready to get to the meat of this and start a wonderful home based business, online, where you get to work from home. I’ve been there. But I also knew that in order to succeed, I had to get my wits about me and understand the big picture behind eBay selling.
You have come here looking for a way out of your day job or to make a secondary income online. I wanted the same things. eBay is a great option and a great way to make a living working from home, especially for stay at home moms. We both know that. However, your business can be the fad of the moment or can be built from the ground up to generate sustainable, long term income. That’s where the two resources come in. You need information to help build the big picture in your mind.
The Problem with Thinking Small About Your eBay Home Business
Imagine that you have been selling on eBay for a year already and have a decent eBay business. You have a special niche of about a dozen products, are making money and you have just quit your old job. Things are good with your eBay home based business. You are making 60% profit on almost every sale you make and you have just begun making enough money to replace your corporate income while working from home. That’s a great feeling. Your eBay home business is thriving.
Then one day you wake up and see that your sales diminished overnight. Your typical sales numbers did not come in. What happened? You have not had a day this bad in months. Hmmm, oh well. Everyone has a bad day, right?
The next morning is like Groundhog Day, bad sales again! This is ridiculous. “What’s going on”?” you ask. Now you are more than a little bit concerned about the health of your eBay home
business.
When Selling on eBay You Need to Think Globally
After a little research you find a new seller from Hong Kong. He’s selling your items for 25% less than you! That’s half of your profits! Uh-oh! What do you do now? You cut your prices and your eBay home business starts to suffer. You get into a price war and you scramble. You’ve been resting on your laurels and you have not been thinking out of the box. You have been living on day-to-day sales and have not built any longevity or security into your business! Bills are due, you just left your job for your new home business and all of a sudden, the bottom falls out.
My goal here is to get you thinking about the big picture and prevent that story from becoming your reality. You need to learn to capitalize on your customer base and avoid relying on one source for all of your income. Getting to the point of financial security will require some patience, a good plan, and a solid foundation. You need a vision. Your business is not just about eBay. Yes, eBay will be the catalyst to jumpstart your Internet business, but in a few years, you business will not just be about eBay. You can’t afford to make your home business just an eBay home business.
