eBay fees are not usually the first thing that comes to mind when the website is mentioned, but they are a big part of selling on the site. Ebay is a great online tool where almost any person, anywhere can register, log on, and shop or sell items. If you are a buyer, your purchases will usually be obtained at great bargain prices and then delivered right to your door. eBay is truly a buyer’s market, but there must be items for sale in order for these transactions to take place, and selling any item on eBay comes with eBay fees.
The Different Types of eBay Fees
Here is a pretty comprehensive outline of eBay Seller fees that you can expect. This is independent of any Paypal fees that you may encounter on top of these eBay fees.
There are two different ways of selling items on eBay: Auction Style and Fixed Price.
Auction style listings are placed with a starting price of your choice for an optional 3-10 day period, and eBayers have the option to place bids on the item. The total cost to sell an item this way is the insertion fee plus the final value fee.
The final value fee for auction style selling is 9% of the items total cost to the buyer with a maximum charge of $100.

Items $0.99 to $50 cost 8% of final sale price
Items $50.01 to $1,000 cost 8% of the initial $50 and 5% of the remaining sale price
Items $1,000+ cost 8% of the initial $50, 5% of $50-$1,000, and 2% of the remainder
Clothing, Shoes, Accessories-
Items $0.99 to $50 cost 12% of final sale price
Items $50.01 to $1,000 cost 12% of the initial $50 and 9% of the remaining sale price
Items $1,000+ cost 12% of the initial $50, 9% of $50-$1,000, and 2% of the remainder
Books, DVDs, Music, Video Games-
Items $0.99 to $50 cost 15% of final sale price
Items $50.01 to $1,000 cost 15% of the initial $50 and 5% of the remaining sale price
Items $1,000+ cost 15% of the initial $50, 5% of $50-$1,000, and 2% of the remainder
All Other Categories-
Items $0.99 to $50 cost 12% of final sale price

There are no final value fees for fixed price items that do not sell.
Buy It Now is a feature for auction-style listings that enables eBayers to skip bidding and pay a set price for an item. Buy It Now is free for the first 50 listings in a month.

Listing Upgrade eBay Fees
Listing upgrade eBay fees are placed on optional changes you can make to your listing that will make it stand out and possibly catch the eye of a buyer. These consist of bold lettered text, extra pictures, picture enhancements, subtitle, listing duration variations, image gallery options, or enhancement packages with combinations of upgrades or optional feature that you may choose. These cost from $0.10 to $4.00, depending on the enhancement, your selling period and selling style.
Shipping Fees
Shipping Fees are decided by the seller, usually based on the weight of the item and distance it must be shipped. Ebay offers a shipping calculator to estimate the cost to the seller or this fee can be a flat rate determined by the seller. There is also a Free Shipping option.
eBay Store Fees
